This natural wonder, which is the result of transformation of ancient lakes, is captivating in its simplicity. It is the perfect place for reflection—literally. In fact, it is sometimes called the “greatest mirror” on the face of the Earth, because the great white expanse of the salt flat perfectly reflects the blue sky. This phenomenon, called aurora borealis, appear on the Arctic sky at night, with streaks of light colored green, pink and violet seemingly dancing in the heavens.
